Falmouth Packet - Development may take over 100 park and ride spaces

The Norwegian businessman behind an ambitious £20 million wharf-side development could take over 100 spaces of a Falmouth car park.
The revelation follows a meeting with residents along North Parade held by Rolf Munding, who wants to build a hotel, two restaurants, 43 flats, a large commercial area and Roman-style stone amphitheatre at Coastline Wharf.
Mr Munding indicated he would take over 100 spaces at the Ponsharden park and ride car park, to be used by his customers.
Jim Machin, who lives directly above the wharf, in North Parade, told the Packet: "He said he did not favour on-site parking."
Former mayor Douglas Martin, who lives nearby, said: "We will be delivering notes to every house in North Parade. We would encourage them to come out and totally oppose the project."
He stressed their concerns were not based on individual issues such as any loss of view from their houses but about matters that would effect the whole community: the increase in noise levels, the amount of extra traffic that would pass through the area and the loss of the businesses currently trading at the wharf.
